The first Muster was held in Canberra, Australia’s national capital, in 1989, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Australian release of the 4CV. Even the “Mack” bus is a rear-engined Renault (PR100-2). Note the destination board and bus number/registration.
George Cook as 4CV Register coordinacor hosted a BBQ at his place orr Friday.nighf. Bob Gray was running around with his flash capcuring every ‘new’ CV that arrived. Bob Skinner had to tow one into Canberra that didn’t quite make from north of Sydney. It had overheated due to a blocked air intake to the radiator, though was soon running again with a bit cf expert assistance from George Hames.
The next morning found nine 750’s lined up ar the deslgnated meeting point. Four from north of Sydney, two frorn Canberra and one R1O/Rl2 modifjed from Victoria, Georges from Dalby, Qld, and one frorn Sydney. All were three bar grilI post 1954 models.
Whiles in Carrberra we did lots ot sight seeing, went out to dinner, met the French Consul, drove around in convoy, had a ride in a Renault (Mack) bus and all went on a picnic’ The weather was beautiful and a Iot of entlrusiasm was generated.
